  • If one party is a company, a notarial certificate less than 180 days old with its name, RUT and who signs, and a photocopy of the signer’s ID card.

If the owner died, it’s transferred to the heirs with the certificate of the probate results or, without probate, with a notarial certificate of presumed sole heirs. A notarial certificate of possession for more than a year is also accepted.

How it’s done

  1. Book on the web booking: Dirección de Tránsito, Automotores booking, Trámites de Vehículos.
  2. On the booked day you go to the Dirección de Tránsito with the requirements. At the municipalities and juntas locales no appointment is needed.
  3. They process the documents, inspect the vehicle and, if it passes, enable payment. With the receipt they give you the new DIV.

At a municipality or junta local they inspect the vehicle there and send the documents to the Dirección de Tránsito, which returns the finished procedure with the registration card for you to collect where you applied.
