Adding a category
To add a category, the category extension page asks for an appointment, your ID card and a valid health card. It costs $ 942 and you pay at any payment network. The practical test is also on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00 to 11:00, at Parque Rodó.
Duplicate
For theft, loss or damage, the duplicate gives you a new permit in the same category, grade and term as the original. It needs an appointment and, if it was stolen or lost, the police report. The page says 1.50 UR, and explains that for loss or theft with a police report the duplicate costs 50% of what you paid for that permit.
Cost
The first time page, updated on 14/09/2026, publishes 1.50 UR (Unidad Reajustable) and scales the cost by term:
| Term | Of the cost |
|---|---|
| More than 95 months | 100% |
| Between 72 and 95 months | 80% |
| Between 48 and 71 months | 60% |
| Between 24 and 47 months | 40% |
| Less than 24 months | 20% |
The DGI publishes the UR’s value each month.
