Driver’s license in Rocha
In Rocha the license is handled by Contralor de Conductores, of the División Tránsito y Transporte, in person and with a date requested at the Intendencia’s front desk (portería).

How it’s done
- Ask for a date and time at the Intendencia’s front desk, at Gral. Artigas 176.
- Go that day with the requirements.
- You sit the theory and practical tests.
The license is issued the same day. If you already hold another category, bring it.
First time
- Aged 18 or over.
- The physical fitness certificate from a mutualista (health provider) in the department. The pages name Comero, Médica Uruguaya, SER and Retirados Militares.
- From age 70, for A and G2, a certificate from a neurologist and one from general medicine.
- ID card and photocopy.

The minor’s permit for G1 (mopeds up to 50 cc without gears) is renewed every year and doesn’t count as seniority. It asks for the physical fitness certificate, the ID card and photocopy of the minor and of their father, mother or guardian, and the minor goes with both parents or their guardian.
Renewal
- The license to renew, the physical fitness certificate from a mutualista in the department and the ID card with a photocopy.
- From age 70, for A and G2, a certificate from a neurologist and one from general medicine.
- For B, the original criminal record certificate: request it in advance at the police station.
- If it expired more than 2 years ago, you sit the theory and practical tests, with a vehicle of the category.
Duplicate
For loss, theft or damage. With the police report and your ID card you get a 30 calendar day permit that replaces the license. For the duplicate you ask for a date at the front desk and go with the ID card and photocopy, the report and that permit. It’s issued the same day.

The Intendencia waives 50% of the issuing fee for blood donors, under the agreement with ASSE and the Hemocentro Regional de Maldonado, according to the news item of 01/06/2026: amateur car and motorcycle categories, first time or renewal, ages 18 to 65. The news item doesn’t say what proof to bring.
