Driver’s license in Salto

Requirements

The Intendencia’s requirements page asks, for every category, for:

• A theory exam on technical and regulatory knowledge.
• A practical exam in a vehicle of the category.
• A valid health card (carné de salud) issued by the Intendencia de Salto. For G3, B, C, D, E, F and H, the professional driver’s health card.

For B, C, D, E, F and H, also the good conduct certificate from the Ministerio del Interior. For G1 before age 18, the parents’ or guardians’ authorisation, with the birth certificate or the marriage record book.

The health card

It’s done by the Clínica Municipal, for amateur and motorcycle driving, and for professional driving.

• Go at 7 with the fee for your category, bought at the Intendencia’s cash desks.
• For the professional card, after a 10 to 12 hour fast: a light dinner the night before, and you can drink water.
• Women over 21 bring proof of a Pap smear, and those over 40 also proof of a mammogram.

How to book and what it costs

We didn’t find on a current official page how to book the license or what it costs. The Intendencia’s news items on it are from 2020 and 2021:

• The one from 19/10/2020 says first time and renewal were done in person without booking, at Larrañaga and Andrés Latorre, with numbers in order of arrival from 6:30.
• The one from 02/02/2021 opened the División Tránsito’s WhatsApp 099 826 048, Monday to Friday, 6:30 to 13:30, to give the payment code, book and send study material.

Given the dates, confirm it before you go at the Tránsito office or at 4732 9898.
