Register a vehicle
The car and motorcycle registration page, updated on 04/08/2026, asks for:
- The bill of sale, with the invoice number, the purchase date and the vehicle’s other details.
- Notarial certification of signatures, if the selling company isn’t in the División’s Registro de Firmas.
- Proof of address in the department of Salto.
- The ID card, with the buyer’s details.
- The vehicle, for inspection.
- The Dirección Nacional de Aduanas certificate, if the vehicle cleared customs before 15/12/2008.
- The SOA, compulsory motor insurance.
You need a prior appointment: you book on the online booking page, choosing Registro de Tránsito, and on the booked day you ask for a number at the Mesa de Informes. It can’t be done online.
| Vehicle | Cost |
|---|---|
| Car, with 2 plates and registration card | $ 5,084.34 |
| Motorcycle, with 1 plate and registration card | $ 3,304.82 |

A vehicle from another department
The Intendencia has a free re-registration page, but it only carries the link to the booking page: we didn’t find its requirements or until when it applies. Ask the División Registro.
Duplicate
We didn’t find the requirements or the cost of a duplicate registration card on an official Salto page. Ask the División Registro.
Office

The registration card, in the app
When you add a vehicle you scan the registration card and it stays in Documents just like the real one, with every value at hand and in Apple Wallet. If you get a duplicate, you update the photo in one tap.
Free for up to 2 vehicles.
